Come Fly With Me

Hello! 

This weekend my sister and I are performing a cheesy airline routine with the dance class we've been going to. We've practised A LOT! So fingers crossed we'll remember the moves and not make a complete mess of it! Feeling excited and nervous!! I'm pretty sure if I ever hear Come Fly With me after the performance I'll suddenly burst into the routine, it's definitely going to be my new party piece! Costume is a red dress and to finish off the look I made us each a little red felt hat. I've just got a new phone (I'm blogging from it right now) and I'm a little obsessed with the A Beautiful Mess App so here are some pics of me in my hat a beautiful mess stylee!

Hearts and Flowers

Hello!
Back to porridge today after a lovely St Patrick's weekend, it was nice to be off for three days and to get out for a big walk in the forest, enjoy the first picnic of the year and spend fun afternoon thrifting with the big lad in the charity shops of Ballymena.
I bought this dress from the Hope Charity shop in  Lurgan on a recent day out with my mum and dad. The dress was a few sizes to big, I tried it on in the freezing cold changing room anyway because I loved the floral pattern, I thought it would be a simple enough job to alter this dress. I roped sister bob into pinning the dress then I sewed up the sides and took the hem up by a few inches.

Boiiinng!

This years St Patrick's carnival celebrations in Belfast were on a time travel theme, the star of the show for me was the very cool Delorean car fromBack to the Future! Very proud of my two sisters Christine and Kathryn who work with The Beat to make the costumes and floats for the carnival.

 Then it was home for treats made by Claire from The Lily Pink Bakery they did taste as good as they look!

Hello!
About this time every year my dad will announce "There's a qer stretch in the evenings" It's a favourite saying of mine now too, Spring is one of my favourite times of year, a spring clean, blue skies, regrowth, fresh air. With temperatures reaching a scorching 13 degrees this week in Belfast it didn't at all surprise me to see a car load of Polish guys lifting their BBQ charcoal and meat from their car or the girls in denim hot pants and bare legs! We make the most of what we've got here in NI! Finishing work at half 3 definitely has it's spring time perks even after chores have been done there was still time for a stroll in the park and catch the light, in the summer I'll be racing home to fire on the denim shorts and get the barbie started!

Making Time

Hello!
No I've not given up blogging for lent, just been taking a wee break. I have given up chocolate though but after today I could have easily eaten a snickers in one bite, I did manage to resist although if a sprinkle of chocolate on a cappuccino counts as chocolate (I don't think so) then lent has been broken.
I haven't been making much recently, being busy in the evenings practising for a dance performance (EEEEKK!!) meeting friends and going to yoga, it's funny how a new job has totally changed my social activities, I used to spend a lot of time hanging out with Jo Wylie!
I made these cards a while back, inspired by the elephants I made for the school run, they'll be on their way now!!

Seeing it's World Book Day I thought I'd share what I'm reading at the minute. Lovely Deborah from Life begins at 30 gave me this book to read, We are all made of glue by Marina Lewycka.
"Georgie Sinclair's life is coming unstuck. Her husband's left her. Her son's obsessed with the End of the World. And now her elderly neighbour Mrs Shapiro has decided they are related.
Or so the hospital informs her when Mrs Shapiro has an accident and names Georgie next of kin. This, however, is not a case of a quick ward visit: Mrs Shapiro has a large rickety house full of stinky cats that needs looking after and that a pair of estate agents seem intent on swindling from her. Plus there are the 'Uselesses' trying to repair it (uselessly). Then there's the social worker who wants to put her in a nursing home. Not to mention some letters that point to a mysterious, painful past.
As Georgie tries her best to put Mrs Shapiro's life back together, somehow she must stop her own from falling apart".
So far so good, I'm enjoying taking the taking the time to read. Hopefully I'll actually finish this one, the pile of half read books on the beside table is mounting up....

Hello!
On my walk home form work I pass 4 charity shops, this can be difficult for me! The temptation to go inside just for a quick look is overwhelming....Well I was walking home just a other day saying to myself, I must not go into the charity shops (eh heard that one before) as the words parted my lips, I looked up at Cancer Research and in the window was a gorgeous fire guard, it called "Buy me" Before I knew it I had parted with my cash and practically skipped home. On a recent thrifting adventure with my mum and dad I'd bought a mirror for £5 and a groovy tray £2, I would turn my new fireguard into a picture and use my other new purchases for a Spring time hallway makeover.

How could I resist? Carnations the flowers of love

I unscrewed the feet and stapled on a bit of string to hang it as a picture instead
