Granville Car bootie Lootie

Hello!
Last month we took a little trip to the Granville car boot sale, the last time we'd been was back in 2012 eh? what happened last year? can't believe we didn't go in 2013! The boot sale happens every third Saturday, check out this list for lots of other boot sales in Northern Ireland. There's always a huge crowd and a lot of stalls and you'll be sure to come away with something or things that you completely didn't need......And that's excatly what happened to me! I was being relatively constrained and kept the purse strings tightened for a bit, until I bought one thing, then the wheels came off and I bought all round me! Must have been the country air, all the methane went to my head, I bought a vase, not one but two clocks, an American Tourister travel bag, a handbag, a tin and a deer ornament, oh I nearly forgot a children's book about cats, quite a car bootie lootie but not bad for a total expenditure of twenty quid.
This guy again, happy to pose for a photo!

Loving car boot season! (A little too much maybe!)

Hope you're having a great weekend, I'm off on a week holidays! Sweet

A smashing weekend

Hello!
Phil went mad chasing after a fly, did a ninja jump to the mantle piece and smashed one of my Autumn vases, naughty boy! All is not lost as it's been saved for the (I'll get round to it one of these days) fixing of the kitchen tiles. When one piece of vintage gets broken a door opens for a new piece of vintage (new moto) and so the mantle piece has two new additions, we stopped at a boot sale on the way home from our friends wedding and came home with a pair of cats (can't resist), some bowls for smashing (sorry vintage crockery lovers!) and a little picture of a praying girl and her kitten....
Another one bites the dust

Our hallway, it's been so long since I've painted, a new family portrait is on my to do list after the kitchen tiles are sorted
Please forgive me for smashing vintage plates

All the girls were preening today, Betty and Beryl had a Sunday bath in the vegetable patch and I had a short back and sides a la sister Bob, I was worried she would do a Sinead O'Connor on me as pay back for all the times I cut her hair badly, but she did a good job.

Beach and Boot Sale

Hello!
Today was the perfect day for a drive to Dundrum for a mooch around the boot sale then to Tyrella for a walk along the beach. Sunny enough to feel warm, windy enough to blow the cobwebs away. The beach was pretty deserted apart from a few wind surfers making the most of the gorgeous day. On Friday I had all my hair cut off, so it's back to being super short, I'd forgotten that wind and short hair do not make for a good look, I must invest in some super strength hairspray for the coming windy months....Anyhow, the boot sale at Dundrum was packed, giddy from the smell of Dinky donuts and exhilarated by the sea air we set off to find treasure! The big lad bought three records for 2 pounds and I bought some dollies, a babycham glass and an Enid Blyton book for my friend to add to her collection, all delighted....

Have you found anything good at a boot sale recently?

I'm off to make a pot of soup and to finish a picture that has been needed to be finished for a looooonnng time!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend xx

Dublin's Merchant Market

Howeya,
We visited our friends who live in Dublin last weekend and they took us on a little trip to Dublin's Merchants Indoor Market.....There was some pretty nifty roadside art leading up to the market, I can relate to this! Just imagine the big lad's the woman and I'm the man...... The market was full of interesting stalls bursting with retro goodies, *Eyes light up* I tried not to get too carried away and only left with a cat, a lamp, 6 glasses and jug and 4 glass set, spending a grand total of 16 Euro..... it could have been a lot worse! (I'm trying to save)

I left the jug and glasses set with my friends as a thank you for having us down, but the lamp and yellow flower glasses came home with us, I forgot to take a pic of the new cat in cat collection, (worrying cat collection is growing at pace)

Maybe another little visit in the future for this Dublin Flea

Thank you Ray and Monta for a brilliant time (Ray next time don't make the cup cakes as orangey, Ta!)

Have you been to any great markets recently?

Happy Mothers day tomorrow all the yummy mummys out there, I just know Mary has got me something really special :)

Oh! and Part Five of Last Weekend, my bestie Kathryn, photographer and writer of Martha My Muse is going to take some photographs next weekend (weather permitting) so stay tuned!

Bye for now xx Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Bob and Bobs Excellent Adventure No2 (Granville)

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
I'm easing myself nicely into my week off, starting yesterday with a sisters thrifting adventure into the Tyrone countryside. At the recent vintage fair I got chatting to some lovely ladies from another stall who told me about a car boot sale in Granville near Dungannon, I COULDN'T wait to go!! Granville holds a fair every weekend, although each week it varies, lifestock, machinery etc but on the 3rd Saturday of every month it holds a car boot and poultry fair, two things I love!
My own car boot cleared, I pick up Bob and we beat down the road to Dungannon. It was an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday, a day for the beach, for lying in the garden topping up the freckles or the perfect day for a really good car boot sale!
I highly recommend this boot sale, not even for what's on sale but just for the pure craic! There were so many characters! And if it's a farmer you're after this could be the perfect place to find your man, all dirty jeans, hands like shovels and weather tanned skin!
Five minutes in and Bob and I had reverted back to our broad Portadown accents "Wud ye luk a thon, there's a quer size of a b'ast" translation "Look at the size of that large animal" It's the effect the countryside has on us! We started fantasising about leaving the city, living on a farm and making jam with a ferret as a pet, must have been the country air getting to us! City folk are so different!

In another attempt to get this photo there was another singing farmer trying to ninja jump into the picture!
The craic was ninety with these two
I wanted a photo of a young farmer holding this cockerel but he was too shy instead he just let the beast out, mistake! it really didn't want to go back in
We didn't come home empty handed, in fact by my standards I would say I went overboard, blaming the fresh country air and sunshine again! Didn't come home with any ferrets though.....so that's something!
After Granville we headed into Dungannon for lunch, a powerful feed to recharge the batteries, then home my own city farmer (the big lad) my wild beast (Mary) and the three hens : )
Quite a lot and that's not even all of it, a couple of things I bought I'm keeping for presents so I can't disclose them on the blog! Bob was slightly more restrained, she came home with a lovely lemon shirt, nearly every thrifting adventure she comes home with either a shirt or a jumper!

An excellent adventure and a great day out had by all! Resting today, going to make scones and do some sewing : )
Bye for now have a lovely Sunday everyone xx
