Groped by a mo bro

I'm not one for condoning violence, but last night I was dancing in a club and a guy (he happened to be sporting a tashe) grabbed my bum!, my instant reaction was to turn and give him a slap! I slapped him hard right on the shoulder and it stung my hand so I'm guessing it stung him! but my question is....Is there some unwritten rule in a nightclub where it's acceptable to grab peoples asses? Should I be flattered?

Eat buns raise funds!

For the last 3 years my friend Catherine and I have walked in the Belfast marathon.Belfast City MarathonI love taking part in the marathon, it's a challenge but worth it for the my personal reward of a Dominos pizza when I'm done. The first year we took part we walked 9 miles, too easy, the following year the full 26.1, totally wrecked I could barely walk home from the park and this year again the full thing and it wasn't too bad! Next year we're planning a relay..... To raise money for this years marathon I had a little tea party!
My lovely assistant Gloria, proudly raising the banner for Macmillan! My sister Kathryn made Gloria, she's so cool!

I must admit that I bought all the goodies for the tea party, I wasn't the baker then that I am now!
Thank you to all my friends and family who gave generously to Macmillan!

Buy Nothing Day-Saturday 26th November

At this time of year people go CRAZY spending! But it's time to lock up your wallets and challenge yourself to a day of zero consumerism.1 DAY!! http://www.buynothingday.co.uk/
NO saturday paper, NO coffee shop treats, NO charity shop mooching (well....strictly you can mooch but only looking no buying), NO weekend takeout! Easy? The buy nothing challenge is nothing new to me, it's a daily challenge I set myself (mostly because I have no money to spend in the first place) but I usually fail miserably! But when I do have a day of no spending it actually feels great, who'd a thunk it?? NO SPENDING= HAPPINESS
.............and this little piggy got none
The big lad bought me a little book of quotes for hard times, Keep calm and carry on, perhaps I should refer to it more often....a fitting quote for todays blog from Paul Clitheroe-There are plenty of ways to get ahead. The first is so basic I'm almost embarrassed to say it: spend less than you earn.

My 10 tips for spending less (remember sometimes you have to spectulate to accumulate)

1. STAY AWAY FROM THE SHOPS!
2. Be mindful, think before you spend "Do I really need these cat earmuffs?"
3. Ditch the gym and take up running, it's fun and free!
4. Bring a packed lunch to work.
5. Buy a reusable coffee mugs and make your own.
6. Read blogs instead of mags.
7. De-clutter, less=more
8. Grow your own salad and veg.
9. Clothes swap with friends and family.
10. Make presents, if your not artistic why not bake something?

GOOD LUCK!!

Weekending

Couldn't sleep last night! Tossed and turned and then finally got up at 7 this morning..... I'd promised my sister yesterday that I'd make some scones for her and her helpers, they're busy all weekend making 16 gingerbread men costumes for the Lyric Theatre. Eating scones = increased productivity! I was the earlybird in the supermarket at 8.30am, making a fool of myself trying to work the self scanners and taking forever ( I HATE THOSE THINGS...RANT OVER!!) and then home to bake!  I made cherry ones and cinnamon and raisin ones YUM! and the house smells lovely now. Happy weekends everyone x

70's poppy tray

Bought this groovy 1970's floral tray for a pound from a charity shop up the Newtownards Road in East Belfast. The East has great charity shops and I always end up bringing something random home, soon the big lad will have had words with the shop keepers, if you see this girl....do NOT let her buy anything. If my memory serves me correctly my granny Mac had a tray or chopping board exactly like this. I love the obligatory 1970's brown, orange and yellow colours, very Autumnal.

I will NOT get sick this Christmas....

That's it! I'm kick starting an immune boosting regime in an attempt to ward off my annual cold which plagues me every year at Christmas. Having the cold at Christmas really stinks so this year instead of hiding, sniffling under a blanket, I'll be postively glowing....well, in theory anyway. THE PLAN....a daily dose of berocca, loads of garlic and large portions of fruit and Veg. Easy? I've been away all week with work and so far have only managed 2 fruit smooties, not a great start.........classic, regime starts tomorrow!

How cute are these Innocent smooties! with their little woolly hats on. It's all part of The Big Knit http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/bigknit/ every hatted bottle sold raises 25p to help the elderly keep warm this winter. Just trying to think of what I can use the hats for now, they're just a wee bit too small for Mary!
Have great weekends everyone xx

MTV in BELFAST

WOOP WOOP!! Tonight Belfast hosts the MTV EMA at the Odyssey Arena! Putting Belfast on the map for all the right reasons! It's FAB and the city is really buzzing!! There's a real excitement about town, hoards of people hoping to catch a glance of their favourite popstars, my friend bumped into Lady Gaga last night in Boojum! I wonder did she enjoy it?Boojum The atmosphere at tonight's event will be electric as Bieber fever reaches boiling point.....I'll be watching from the comfort of the sofa but hopefully get lots of goss from my friend who's going.
GO BELFAST!!

It's like he has irons for feet

My super talented sister Kathryn Boyle is an illustrator and sculptor, the artistic gene runs in our family. This character titled, It's like he has irons for feet, taken from her degree show from the University of Ulster in 2005, now resides in our living room. Thanks Kathryn! The concept was to take titbits of overheard conversations out of their context and create something visually from something that should not have been taken literally. To find out more about the artist or commissions contact Kathryn by email kathboyle_83@hotmail.com

Movember

"A kiss without a moustache, they say, is like an egg without salt; I will add to it: and it is like good without evil" Jean-Paul Sartre
If you start spotting an unusual amount of distinguished gentlemen about town sporting taches this November (or should I say Movember), don't be alarmed! They be doing their bit for charity and growing a tache to help raise funds and awareness for men's health issues http://uk.movember.com/ Lets give it up for the Mo Bros in our lives and support this brilliant cause.
Tom Selleck, lets face it, the man knows how the work that tache.

Boys get growing!
