Weekend love

Hello!
This weekend I've been enjoying hanging out with the cats, making new clothes for Pippa, day tripping with the big lad,  coastal walks, picking beachy wildflowers, lunch in my favourite harbour town cafe, charity shop mooches, picking strawberries from the garden, watching Game of Thrones and the best thing about this weekend, there's a whole week off work ahead!

I picked up a couple of things in the charity shops, these gorgeous glass deer, a new friend for Pippa and from the £1 sale rail a new shirt and jumper!
I lasted about half an hour in the same room as the wild flowers then they sadly had to go, Hay fever sucks!!!
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Ladies Pride

Never one to shy away from a bright colour or a bold pattern this amazing lurex maxi dress in the action cancer shop popped out from the rail immediately and caught my eye (sorry I'm just imagining that literally and ouch!) I'm making up for my rather dull youth that was spent wearing grey and blue my sister's nickname for me was cloud. Ten pounds for such a beautiful dress is a total bargain in my opinion and with a friends wedding happening in May I justified it coming home! Miss Jones was on hand to make the dress a little more me, the flared sleeves went and the maxi became a mini, miss Jones did a great job considering she's been out of action for so long. The fabric is lurex and has a lovely subtle sparkle and the pattern well it's just wow and after the alteration I have enough fabric left to make something else, my sister suggested a clutch bag to match. Watch this space!
Hahhaaa! Just noticing my face in this picture!
Beautiful Miss Jones still working like a dream, matches the new dress perfectly!
The finished article, can't wait to wear this!
Hope you're all having a great week x

Little changes

Hello!
This year instead of New Years resolutions I've got a monthly to do list! This months list includes get a haircut, clean the car, bring healthy snacks to work, amongst others, all very do-able! Number ten on the list was to make some changes to our living room. A while back I'd used some apple crates in our living room as storage, the changes saw them go, now being used under the stairs as shoe storage and in the space they left behind a reshuffle of the lovely retro ladies art to make space for a new picture. I bought this picture about 2 years ago, from a charity shop, where else?! And it's been under the bed in the spare room ever since! Not good! I've also rehomed the deer collection from the glass cabinet to make space for the big lads ever growing library. So just some little changes, I like to keep things fresh and I'm happy to have finally hung the picture!

What are you changing this year?
Have a great weekend everyone x

A long overdue charity shop mooch

Hello!
My sister and I were heading down to visit  our parents and decided a charity shop mooch was long overdue! I used to go thrifting ALL the time! But I've had a reality check, realised I was spending ALL my money on vintage and haven't been in ages so it was a real treat to hoke and even if it's just that it's still fun! There was lots of 'good stuff' but I only bought a few.....ahem.... necessary items! I didn't buy these books

But I did buy......
Fluffy tailed bunnies a present for a Instagram friend, I couldn't resist! Some tile transfers, highly unnesscessary! A foot stool, I had to come to an agreement with my sister for this who claimed it first,I've been on the look out for one just like this got a very long time and being a great sister she let me buy it, some pretty plant pots and a Christmas angel
The little angel needs some TLC as she's lost her sparkle but for Christmas she'll be good a new!
Phil has claimed the new foot stool as his own.
Ahh, you can't beat the chazzas!
Have a great weekend everyone x

A Well Made vintage charity shop

Hello!
I had a lovely after work dander with my sister around Belmont, an area of East Belfast with cafés, shops and the beautiful Strand cinema. We popped into the new vintage shop Well Made, it's a vintage charity shop with proceeds raised by the shop used to fund projects for St Christopher's church. The shop is full of pretty amazing vintage pieces, jewellery and it's also selling art from local people.
That1970s wedding dress! I'm in love!
I'm hoping I can get involved too! I'll keep you posted
Hope you're all having a great week x

It never rains but it pours

Hello!
You know the old story....I only went out for milk (how many times have I started a blog with this line!) It's just that the shop selling milk happens to be slap bang in the middle of a street full of charity shops, trying hard to remember Stelios's walk on advice, I'm weak and head in just for a wee look. You know the saying wait all day for a bus and then three come at once, well that's kinda what happened except it was umbrellas. I'm forever getting completely soaked, so when I spied three vintage designer umbrellas in the corner I snapped them up, they were a bargain too £3.50 each. My only saving grace is that these are an extremely useful buy and they feel really sturdy, ok so they don't fit in your handbag but when it's not raining they double up as a walking stick for me(I'm 5ft 1) I tested the pretty red one of Monday and as my sisters new pink brollie blew inside out mine stayed strong,  they don't make brollies like they used to.

All that said, I really hope it doesn't rain!

Have a great week everyone!! xx

Because the lady loves Dianthus Caryophyllus

Hello!
On my walk home form work I pass 4 charity shops, this can be difficult for me! The temptation to go inside just for a quick look is overwhelming....Well I was walking home just a other day saying to myself, I must not go into the charity shops (eh heard that one before) as the words parted my lips, I looked up at Cancer Research and in the window was a gorgeous fire guard, it called "Buy me" Before I knew it I had parted with my cash and practically skipped home. On a recent thrifting adventure with my mum and dad I'd bought a mirror for £5 and a groovy tray £2, I would turn my new fireguard into a picture and use my other new purchases for a Spring time hallway makeover.
How could I resist? Carnations the flowers of love

I unscrewed the feet and stapled on a bit of string to hang it as a picture instead

Before

life imitating art

The new hallway gets Phil's seal of approval.

Hope you're all having a fab weekend xxx
