Made by Mum

Hello!
I've just spent a lovely Saturday thrifting with my mum and sister. We all love a good bargain! Mum, who loves charity shops will happily tell everyone who comments on her fabulous outfits what she bought out of a charity shop and how much it cost. Mum has a magpie eye for spying the perfect necklace that she'll team with her outfit, she's always so well coordinated! My mum's a super crafty lady, back in the day mum used to make her own clothes, she would crochet, do needle point and macrame, she loves her garden and is a great baker, I think mum has had a very strong influence on what I love to do! I have a few things around my home that mum has made and I thought I'd show them to you.
A seventies sunset, the centre piece of living room wall

Still going, mum's crocheted sausage dog draft excluder
pretty crochet flowers hanging in the hallway
A bright granny square blanket makes the perfect headboard cover

Mum, if you're reading this, you're great!  A very talented lady!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend! I'll share my purchases on the blog this week, but not all of them! say no more, say no more xxxx

If you go down to the woods today

Hello!
We've had a great weekend mostly spent outside enjoying the good weather and celebrating a couple of birthdays. It was the big lad's birthday on Sunday, we packed a picnic and spent the day walking in the forest and yesterday we went hill walking in Rostrevor. We ended up getting a bit lost and walked for over three hours, of course without sunscreen or a hat so my nose is bright red, will I ever learn? 34 today and still none the wiser! Yes, it's my birthday today and the big lad has almost certainly out done himself this time, I will share all later on in the week!
There's an arrow coming out of my armpit.

Have a great day everyone xxx

Happy Easter!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon reinforcing the chicken coop after I caught the chickens enjoying a dust bath in the middle of the veg patch. They've been escaping a lot recently, a neighbour found one of the girls in her front garden and another said he had seen one of them standing in the road! I don't want to come home some day to find them gone, chicken wire, staples and a few extra nails here and there and I don't think they'll get out again. I cobbled together a veg patch cover out of some old floorboards and left over chicken wire too just in case.

The girls have nearly been with us for two years now!
Hope you're having a lovely Easter break xxx

It's a hard life!

Hello!
What a busy week it's been! I don't know wether I'm coming or going. A few days off for Easter are very welcome, I'm looking forward to having nothing to do, Mary has the right idea.

It's a hard life!

Happy Friday everyone xxx

Sugar Fix

Hello bloggies!
One week to go until I will eat chocolate again! AAAhh! I'm so looking forward to sitting down with a cup of tea and a massive chunk of Easter egg and quite possibly there'll be a slice of chocolate birhday cake as the big lad celebrates the big 34 next Sunday. By that stage I'll have well and truely sickened myself to stay off chocolate for the rest of the year! So no chocolate what's a girl to do to satisfy her sweet tooth? Make smoothies and what better way to show off some of my pretty thrifted glass collection.

Ingrediants are usually bananas, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, spinach, natural yoghurt, lime, ginger, honey, porridge oats, peanut butter, aple juice, beetroot juice, orange juice it's all good!

Hope you're all having a relaxing Sunday xxx

When one door closes

Hello!
I had an itch to move around our living room. I didn't tell the big lad. Feeling a bit cramped around the dining room table and not able to fully open the door from the living room to the kitchen I addressed the itch. I'm constantly asked "Were you born in a field?" for leaving doors open so this sorts out half that. A quick spring clean and Bob roped in to help with the heavy lifting (not a deer ornament was harmed in the process), we moved the glass cabinet and pushed the dining table against the wall. Ok so we can't get through one door but the kitchen door opens wide now and we have lots more space to spread our elbows when dining. I sent a text to forewarn the big lad "I've made a few changes in the living room" his reply "Nooooooooooooooooo" He liked it though!

The only draw back with the set up is the guest have to come through the kitchen, so I'm going to have to keep that tidy now....didn't think this move through!!

Hope you're all having a great week xx

Hashtag Ridic

Hello!
This made me laugh today. Working with the general public has been a real eye opener....

Hashtag STFU

| Canada | Family & Kids, Technology
(I’m scooping ice cream when four girls approach, probably in their early teens. One girl doesn’t look up from her cellphone the entire time.)
Girl #1: “Like, O-M-G. We should totes get ice cream.”
Girl #2: “We should! Hashtag delicious!”
(At this point I sort of do a double take as I have never heard anyone use ‘O-M-G’ and ‘hashtag’ in an actual sentence. )
Girl #3: “Totes hashtag guilty pleasure. Hashtag favourite food.”
Girl #1: “O-M-G . What flavors should we get? Hashtag decisions!”
Girl #3: “Hashtag double scoops. Hashtag muffin top! Let’s each get two scoops! We’re soooo bad!”
(They proceeded to get their ice cream and then I witnessed them all smooshed together outside the store taking selfies with their ice cream cones, all while making a duck face. I needed to take a break after that to regather my faith in humanity.)

Hope your having a nice weekend xxx

This is me

Ada Bea this ones for you xx
Yesterday Ada Bea from Vintage Sheet Addict  asked who are you?
Who are you? who ohh ohh ohh?

I'm Linda, a vintage loving, creative cat lady, 33 soon to to 34 and I'd just like to add I'm not a homewrecker! Daughter, sister, girlfriend, aunt, friend, a lover not a hater. This post is full of my favourite sayings!
I live in the big smoke of Northern Ireland with my other half, my sister, cats Phil and Mary and chickens Betty and Beryl.
“A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.” Elbert Hubbard
(I'd like to think) Those who know me would describe me as creative, happy go lucky, silly, kind, positive, loyal, hard working and on a bad day impatient, lazy, stubborn!
Life is a good

My favourite things are family, friends, cats, forest walks, running in summer rain, cappuccinos, holidays, karaoke, vintage, charity shops, sewing, chocolate, pizza, cake, cooking, blogging, photography, plants, picnics, cinema, autumn colours, the seaside, instagram, bike rides....I could go on all day!
I started my blog nearly three years ago to share my home decorating projects from then it's turned into more of a personal blog, my on line diary. Blog time is me time. In the past I've tried to keep a diary but I'd always give up writing after a couple of weeks.
Accept and move on

I'm a worrier, if there's something I'm worried about I won't sleep my appetite goes out the window and the worrying thoughts will consume my every thought. This is something I'm working on, I've started yoga practise and mediation, it really has helped.
It's nice to be nice
I love to help people, even if it's just a smile or a hello just being friendly and polite makes my day. I don't like rudeness.
Work to live not live to work
I recently changed jobs, I work in a sandwich shop now and it's great! for me it was a massive change after 13 years in the same job! (I told you I was loyal)
Your health is your wealth
I've learned to accept my dizziness, I have good days and bad days, recently mostly good so I'm happy with that.
“If you can make a woman laugh, you can make her do anything.” Marilyn Monroe
The big lad and I have been together for 14 years! We met through an art college friend of mine who just happened to be his friend, he brought him to our house party and when he came down the stairs with the toilet seat round his neck I knew he was the one. The rest they say is history.
One last thing, my favourite piece of advice, from my mum and dad "Just do your best"

That's enough about me!
Thank you for reading xxxx
