What's on your mantle piece?

Hello!
Our mantle piece is an ever changing display of thrifted objects and special gifts. If the big lad gets his way we'll have a wood burning stove one day, which of course would be nice and warm but I still love the retro fireplace.
Thrifted retro vases
This little glass chicken, from my dad used to belong to Aunty Gertie and Uncle Jo, I love it!

A little black bird embroidery by artist Janice Hackney, a Christmas Present from the big lad.

A thrifty find, retro radio bought for £3, I works but I can only seem to pick up Radio 4 or Radio 5 live

A cute print by Jane Stubb Kirchhoff a present from my friend Catherine from her recent travels to Copenhagen, a thrifted pineapple pot and ivy the houseplant

Bob brought this home for us from Morocco, it's an antique purse

  1. What a pretty mix of bits and pieces! Mine is quite boring by comparison - just some candles!

    1. Rae, I love your mantle piece! all your nik naks, the wall paper in your room is class! I put those mirrored tiles in there, it looks nice when all the candles are lit.

  3. I love the fire surround. It's a shame it looks too small to fit a woodburning stove inside. I've very little on my mantlepiece as it is a long bit of 4x2 on two piles of offcuts while I wait for the cedar wood fireplace surround to be fitted (that's the problem with employing friends!) Only stuff that won't break if it all goes over can go on the mantlepiece. Snow in London has been melting but getting cold again, so appreciating my wood burning stove!

  4. I love your fireplace, don't change it!!
Warn 'the big lad' that a wood burner is a full time job. Mr Betty is chopping and poking all day long.
Thank you so much for my lovely bundle, it has made me so happy. Your birds are amazing.
Hopefully you will receive your treats on Monday. Xxx

    1. I'll tell him! I don't think he realises the work involved, I'd rather have a hloiday than a wood burning stove that way I get to be warm and keep my fireplace!
I'm really happy you liked the parcel, thankyou so much so sending me treats in return! excited!

  5. May I just say what a comfort to find a person that genuinely knows what
they are talking about online. You definitely realize how to
bring an issue to light and make it important.
More and more people should check this out and understand this side of the story.
I can't believe you are not more popular given that you certainly possess the gift.
