Old lamp New Lamp

Hello!
Giving lamp shades makeovers in 70's fabric is my new favourite thing! I picked this lamp base up for a fiver in a charity shop, used some orange spray paint, covered a plain shade in a fab fabric and added a pompom trim to finish her off....

Covered the bits I didn't want to spray, gave the other bits a light sanding
Some left over orange spray from my kitchen makeover
Love this fabric! from my favourite vintage shop The Rusty Zip
Cut the fabric to cover the shade, leave enough to glue the edges back
I used PVA glue, glue a little at a time and smooth the fabric over the shade, I used super glue to stick the edges back, do it a little bit at a time, glue on a fancy trim and Tah Dah....

SO.... When my friend needed to finish off her dining room makover I offered to make her a shade. She'd hung a pair of curtains from Flo's house and  I had enough fabric to make a matching shade. I love that Flo's curtains are having a second chance in Kats house

I'm looking at all the lamps in our house now....which one is next!

I've just done something I've been wanting to do for a while....I' ve deleted my facebook page!! NO MORE FACEBOOK! Will I survive? You'll only find me here and on Instagram now, I feel lighter already!

Hope you're all having a fandabbydozie week so far!

  1. Thanks for this post. I have a lampshade that I need to cover and have been putting it off for a while now, but you have made it look so easy. I might just have a go now and see how I get on. Yours look great by the way. Well done!

  2. Love the lampshade and the bold no more Facebook move! I am trying to do the same - have got rid of the app from my phone and ipad but it's surprisingly hard to break the habit completely. How did you get on with the Plastikote? And will you come and spray my kitchen chairs? Pauline x

    1. Hey Perlie, Plasticote was great, stinks though! but would work a treat on your chairs...would need a nice dry weekend for spraying, when are you booking my flights? As long as I don't log in before the 24th of September then Facebook and I will offically be over. I've been wanting to do it for ages but it's the fear of missing out on something, I say go cold turkey, today was my first day without it and I didn't miss it for a second! Do it! Give it up!! Ring your friends instead! xxx
