Merry kitschmas

Hello!
I hope you're all having a lovely Christmas!
Every year I collect more decorations for our tree, mostly I pick them up in charity shops. Here are a few of my favourites.
This year I've also made a kitsch Nativity scene, using a nectarine crate, tinsel and a few favourite kitsch creatures as Mary and Joseph, the three wise men and a shell baby Jesus.
I had to make a few changes after the big lad suggested Joseph was too girly and that I'd forgotten the Three Wise Men.
All lit up by the light of tea lights and the glow from the new lava lamp, a gift to the big lad after having broken his about 13 years ago.
Hope you're all having a great Christmas x

All strung up

Hello
Merry Christmas everyone!! This weekend to boost the Christmas spirit levels we're looking forward to seeing It's A Wonderful Life, going to a Christmas party and singing our hearts out at a carol service by candlelight.
As far as Christmas decorations have gone this year, we've put up our tree and I've made a wreath for the front door, but you know me, I can't resist a vintage decoration or two. I'll rummage through the Christmas decorations in the charity shops giant plastic tubs full of baubles to find the treasures! I also bought a lucky bag of decorations I potentially thought looked like it could have a few hidden treasures, I was right to take the gamble for three quid, there was lots of goodies inside.
So with all these decorations and with an already full tree, I decided to string them up for a stairway garland.
I have a lot of Santa decorations I'd like to make a Santa garland, they're all on the tree this year so maybe next year!
How have you guys decorated this year?
Have a great weekend xxx

Christmas at my door

Hello,
One of my favourite things to make at Christmas is a wreath for the front door. I've been using the same method for a few years and it works so if ain't broke and all that. To make the circle shape I use rolled up newspaper then wrap it with parcel tape to make it waterproof, I wrap garden wire around the circle so that I can tuck in the greenery. Our Christmas tree this year is very full so I was able to cut some branches off and I bought some holly from my florist friend, the baubles, pine cones and robins are from the Christmas tree stash which seems to grow each year. To make my wreath I start in a clock wise direction threading in greenery under the wire, when I can't see the circle underneath I'll start adding the decorative bits. There was lots left over this year so I made one for my sisters door too! Warning wreath making can be additive!
Hope you're all well x

Wonder Walls

Hello!
Yay! It's the weekend! And not just any weekend, it's the putting up the Christmas tree weekend, we're getting in on the festive action early this year. I'm looking forward to decking the place out and making my Christmas wreath.
I had a itch to put some new wallpaper in our living room, I found this fab paper in Nobblets in Belfast, it's on North Street, the paper is Swedish and a remake of an original design from 1974. I left with two samples one of each of the colour ways already in my head thinking of all the places I could plaster in this print! I love it!!!! The pink version will definitely be making an appearance very soon! The brown and orange sample was put to good use in a little shelf homing bits and bobs in the bathroom.
Have a great weekend everyone x

Cr(e)ating space in the craft room

Hello!
The craft room has yet again gone through a little change. This time I've used some trusty apple crates and a lick of paint to add some more storage for nik naks. My mum and dad picked these up for me from a local garden centre that has an orchard beside it. It's all a bit ramshackle but I like it! I definitely like them better painted white because the stuff inside stands out better but I ran out of white paint, I'll add that to my to do list.

Have a great week everyone xx

Flower rearranging

Hello!
I have quite a stash of retro fabrics, I always seem to be drawn to the floral patterns the brighter and bolder the better! Wanting to try something a bit different I cut out lots of flowers and leaves from different fabrics, I used some fluffy stuff I bought in the local quilting shop, I'm sure it has a proper name but I don't know it! I layered up the fabrics and started sewing on the flowers creating an arrangement as I went along. Once the flowers were sewn I finished it off by adding some embroidered detail, framed it then all that was left was to tidy up the absolute mess that is the craft room!
Hope your all having a lovely week x
