SEW WHAT?
I've had my new sewing machine for about 2 weeks (ta sister Christine!), but had no material to make anything with.....but yesterday I picked up some lovely vintage fabric (old curtains) from The Rusty Zip enough to get me started! First thing on the list to make, a cover for the sewing machine, can't wait to get started now!
Have great weekends everyone! xx
An oldy but goody. |
The spare room has a purpose now. I picked up the perfect drop leaf table from a charity shop for 20 quid, bargin, great if I need to fold it away for space. |
I'm thinking a cover for the sewing machine in the floral fabric and maybe some cushions for our living room in the yellow fabric, brighten the place up! |

Kid's art
It's time to be creative and get the kid's involved in the annual Texaco Children's Art Competition Texaco Children's Art, closing date is the 24th of February ( you have to live on the island of Ireland and cats can't enter, sorry Mary!) Here's some photos of the recent 2011 competition exhibition in Belfast's Ulster Museum, I especially like the cat in the sunglasses picture!

Life's a beach
Myself and the big lad headed to the sea today to blow away some cobwebs, a walk from Helen's bay to Bangor and back, we nearly got blown away! There's nothing like the sea air in your lungs to make you feel great!
A day of sunshine and showers and a beautiful rainbow over the Bangor marina.

Our wee country
Some photies of an Autumn walk in the beautiful Glens of Antrim, Glenariff Country Park The views are stunning! I especially love it in the autumn when all the leaves are changing, the colours are amazing. But the best thing about a walk here is the air, it's SO fresh!

Gumtree........LOVE THIS!
I love this retro bureau on Gumtree! A perfect, compact art studio (new years resolution to paint more) I could have all my art stuff stored in the drawers, and use the desk as a work space and when it all gets a bit messy just fold the top up and hide it all! Retro bureau-Gumtree

Sofa surfing
This week I've been mostly.... lying on the sofa under a blanket, channel surfing. I ended up having to take the week off, dizzyness and work could spell disaster! I've given the remote control a work out and watched some seriously rubbish tele! For the sake of my own sanity, I'll hopefully be back at work on Monday. I bought this crochet blanket from a charity shop in East Belfast for the bargin price of £4.50, it's knitted in a heavy wool so it's really cosy, perfect for sick days on the sofa. My blanket reminds me of the range by House of Holland, maybe when I'm done I'll wear it out as a scarf!
The big lad is sick! coming down with the cold, it's my time to put new year's resolution into action and be the caring and patient girlfriend I've promised to be....I'll even let him borrow my blanket!

Frienemies
Mary's friend, she loves to hate, Seymour....Through the glass thet look longingly at eachother, but when they're outside together it's a different story! They have stare offs, he chases her, corners her, comes into our house and eats her food. Mary should learn to stand up for herself! Seymour's such a bully!! But I think she secretly loves it!
It's that old classic, being annoying , pretending that you hate them but really you love them! |
Mary's playing hard to get..................... |

Happy New Year!
It's obligatory to make a couple of New Years Resolutions.....so here's mine for 2012
1. No more cheese (except on pizza)
2. Whenever the big lad is sick, I will be the most patient and caring girlfriend.
3. Spend less than I earn.
4. See friends and family more.
5. Paint more.
6.Grow more veg.
All do-able! I'll look back next year and see how I got on. Last year one of my resolutions was to keep a diary, I kept it up for a few months, then gave up.......I did start a blog though, a diary of sorts. Another one from last year, and every year, spend less! Somehow I can never see this resolution through, but I'm determined this year, with Mary's help I will succeed!
Have you made any resolutions for 2012?
