Meadow Lands

Hello,
I had a lovely afternoon yesterday with my friend Kathryn and her little girl Martha. We grabbed a few things from around my house and took a short drive to a meadow filled with the most beautiful wild flowers, the perfect backdrop for an impromptu summer Sunday afternoon photo shoot. I can't tell you how much I'm in love with these photographs Kathryn took. Martha loves flowers in her hair, running barefoot in the daisies and chilling in dens listening to Edelweiss and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the Fisher Price record player. A perfect Sunday afternoon!

My new frock from Saturday's Lola's Vintage kilo sale

I hope we'll have more impromptu photo shoots soon!

You can see more of Kathryn's photography on her blog HERE

Hope you all had a lovely weekend xx

Kitchen Makeover Part 2

Hello,
Kitchen makeover is well under way, we've (or should I say the big lad) been busy painting all week, it takes a lot of coats of paint to cover dark blue, lesson well and truly learned! For the walls, white and mustard, I'm a big fan of mustard (the colour not the sauce)....Still another coat of white paint to do, such a difference it makes to the light in the room, it looks so bright! The disastrous blackboard paint on tiles has been transformed with a Mosaic using smashed up vintage plates, therapeutic and pretty. still to sort out the tiles behind the cooker....
Kitchen Inspiration, oranges and lemons

More kitchen makeover coming soon!

Hope you're all having a great weekend xx

Head Scarf

Hello again!
Getting my blogs in early this week as I'm off to Scotland in the morning with work. I had the day off today and got stuck into our kitchen makeover so I'll share some the progress with you at the weekend, it's looking much brighter already.
Here's a little how to I meant to post ages ago.....Weird seeing myself with blond hair...
Take a scarf, fold it in half, inside and draw a curve from the open end corner to the closed side (does that make sense??) Sew along the curve, turn the scarf the right way (the seam on the inside) put your head into the curved bit and then twist up the front and either tie in a knot or twist and tuck in at the back.......

Twist and tuck

Put your head into the curve, take the front two corners of the scarf, twist them up and tie in a bow
Just Experiment!
Perfect for bad hair days or keeping the paint out of your hair when doing kitchen makeovers!

Have a fun week everyone xx

Kitchen makeover is go!

Hello!
I've been planning a kitchen makeover for a while, it was a little cloudy today so it was the perfect day to make a start. Four years ago we painted our kitchen blue but I've always thought it was very dark. The kitchen has to be my least favourite rooms to paint, too many nooks and crannies and I usually get paint all over the units, so I plan to take my time (we'll see) Here's some pictures of our kitchen before....

Watch this space!

What DIY have you been up to lately?

The weekend that summer was (and still is)

WOW Mamma, it's hot! and I love it!!
What a weekend!!
There's been bubbles, BBQs, cycles, strawberry picking, sunbathing, picnicking, porch painting, crafting.......................

Long may this good weather continue, I don't have near enough freckles and there's an epidemic of people with low vitamin D levels in Northern Ireland, if it gets too hot we can always bring out the water cannons!

Hope you're all having a super weekend xx

The lucky/unlucky equilibrium has been restored

Hello!
I'm taking some time out from the sun to show you my charity shop finds from an afternoon spent in Ballymena yesterday. Yesterday we had glorious sunshine, I got out of work at half one but I had to hang around until half 5 because a lady was meeting me to pick up an item the big lad is selling on Gumtree, any way to cut a long story short I was trying to get in contact with her to see if she could meet me earlier when I dropped my phone and it landed face down and smashed the screen FAIL!! I couldn't get in contact so instead I went for a mooch in Ballymena. Ballymena has excellent charity shops (read about another adventure here) I'm walking around in my black work uniform in 26 degree heat so ducking in and out of the charity shops seems like the perfect way to cool down, right? I found so many things and couldn't resist...I'm sure you'll understand why......

PHEW.....Too many hours, a lot of charity shops and an ice cream later, I'm still in Ballymena, I head back to meet the lady and SHE'S A NO SHOW!!
Broken phone, lady doesn't show up/ amazing thrifty finds and getting pooed on today in the garden.....I think the lucky/unlucky equilibrium has been restored.....Everything as it should be once again.
Hope you're all enjoying this glorious twelfth xxx
