Happy Hallow'een!

This photo was taken 2 Hallow'eens ago, when my bezzy mate and I dressed up as zombies and headed to the Castlecourt shopping centre in Belfast to watch Dawn of the dead. We look a dead good!.....It definately doesn't tell you on the bottle how hard it is to get fake blood off your skin, I was pink for days!

Trick or Treat?

BOO......Spookactular goings on today, getting ready for Hallow'een! It's the first year in ages I haven't dressed up, which feels a bit weird however I couldn't let Hallow'een pass without carving a pumpkin and tonight Northern Ireland's largest fireworks display at The Odyessy Arena kicks off at 6, I love Fireworks! ...GO IF YOU DARE!

Easy like Sunday morning

Mary's loving the clocks going back, she really needed that extra hour in bed this morning.

PUPPIES!!

I got the chance to pet these adorable labrador puppies today, so cute! They belong to the big lad's sister and are for sale in the Belfast area. If anyone you know wants a puppy get in contact for the details..... Remember though dogs are for life and not just for Christmas!

Omega Cats

Mary has now sidelined into Interior design, her lastest collaboration with Sanderson (not really) Omega cats is adapted from a 1930s textile by Swedish designer, Victor Lindstrand.
If you're cat mad like me then you'll love this feline fabric, it's priced at around £34.00 a metre....puuuurrrrfect! I'm just imagining a room with cat curtains, wallpaper and upholestry, perhaps that would be cat overkill,  I'd settle for a cat cushion. Omega cats

Half Term holibobs

This week I've been off work and been to visit my sister, brother in law, niece and nephew in England. It's half term holidays for the kids so we were busy, busy, busy...... playing, crafting, drawing, making biscuits, making ghosts, skipping, and then getting tied to trees with the skipping ropes! It was great fun and I've come home inspired....I'm going to bake more and make more! My favourite new discovery, Hama beads! as my niece would say "I don't like Hama beads, I LOVE Hama beads"....if you've never heard of them, expect to see some Hama bead projects on this blog very soon. Some pics below of a visit to Audley End House and Gardens from my trip.

250 days to Heaton Park

When one door closes....Westlife split.... another one opens... THE STONE ROSES reunite! After a frenzy of phonecalls with no answer and crashing websites it looked like our hopes of getting two tickets to see them would be crushed....BUT our frantic tries were not in vain!!!! WE GOT TICKETS FOR OPENING NIGHT!! I've never seen the big lad look so happy! it really was good luck when he got pooed on by a bird the other day. See you in Madchester, for some pills, thrills and bellyaches.......
I painted this for the big lad back in 2002

Boys'a boys'a deer

Deery me.....the cuteness of these little deers makes me want to weep! They look so sad!? Perhaps they've just watched Bambi. I found them in a charity shop in Lisburn and when they bleated in unison "buy us" ....... I couldn't say no!

Crazy Cat Ear Muffs

What winter wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a pair of these crazy cat ear muffs? Modeled here by my sister, they're from H&M and cost £6.99. Truely ridiculous headgear!
White cat symbloism= purity and positive things to come

Black cat symbolism=wards off evil

Beautiful Boudoir set

Barnardos charity shop Belfast had this great bedroom set today, a chest of drawers, wardrobe and dressing table, perfect for the vintage lovers boudoir. I think it looks like furniture Cindy might own.

I own the exact same chest of drawers, bought from Action Cancer on the Ormeau road a few years ago.

I see a white door and I want to paint it black

knock, knock, open wide....see what's on the other side

A blackboard of course! You can buy blackboard paint in DIY stores, all I did was sand down the door then paint a couple of layers...... et voila....now I can bring out my inner teacher! It's actually quite useful because I have a memory like a sieve. What I don't recommmend however is using the rest of your blackboard paint to paint the kitchen tiles....it didn't really turn out very well, more shabby less chic!

Don't try this at home! HOMEWRECKER AT LARGE!

The cat with half an ear

In my spare time I like to paint. This is a portrait of Mary,  painted last year. I tried to capture her boggle eyes (which give her a certain look of despair) and her half an ear....Whatever did happen to her ear? only she knows.....

It hangs in the kitchen by the cat calender ( cat much? )

Fabulously Kitsch & Retro Cocktail Cabinet with lights

Found this class cabinet on Gumtree. It would be the  perfect show case for my retro glass collection but alas there's no room at the inn for this beauty, maybe YOU have the room!

Weekending

There's no better way to start your weekend than with a full Ulster, the breakfast of giants......soda bread, potato bread, mushrooms, bacon, tomato and a fried egg (I think I'm missing sausages) all lovingly fried in lashings of Golden Cow butter, the arteries might be crying but my tummy is happy : )

Sunny side up!

Make hay not war

Head to the country for a roll in the hay......... just don't do a Rihanna and lose your top! the farmer might not be best pleased.

Robert Pack.
“Baled Hay”
from Rounding it Out: A Cycle of Sonnetelles (1999).
Wheels of baled hay bask in October sun:
Gold circles strewn across a sloping field,
They seem arranged as if each one
Has found its place; together they appeal
To some glimpsed order in my mind
Preceding my chance pausing here--
A randomness that also seems designed.
Gold circles strewn across the sloping field
Evoke a silence deep as my deep fear
Of emptiness; I feel the scene requires
A listener who can respond with words, yet who
Prolongs the silence that I still desire,
Relieved as clacking crows come flashing through,
Whose blackness shows chance radiance of fire.
Yet stillness in the field remains for everyone:
Wheels of baled hay bask in the October sun.

Vintage Lovers Unite

Myself and the big lad popped along to The Retro Rooms Show at the Holiday Inn this morning (it's on until 4 30pm). If you love vintage stuff and you're into interior design then this fair is the best place to find those really great one off pieces for your home. I've met a couple of the sellers before on my vintage quests but now I've a few more places to check out like Twisted vintage in Comber and Sew what in Castlewellan....the journey continues.....

Saturday Club (members 2)

Just home from Saturday club.... basically a mooch into town....SO...... Instead of buying anymore furniture (lack of space) from now on I will feed my vintage habit by taking pics of the things I would like to buy and share them so that the good people of Belfast and beyond can go forth and buy.....
Todays vintage bits are brought to you from Barnardos (the one opposite the Northern Whig)
