Cheap and Cheerful

Hello,
The spare room/my dressing room is finished and it cost zero to make the changes, everything I used I already owned, I just swapped things about. When Bob moved out I took down the vintage fabric tree, I asked my friends of Instagram if anyone wanted it and I posted it off to find new roots in England. Another new addition to the room are four amazing vintage Eve big eyed children pictures, one of my favourite Instagrammers @hollie_harris had a giveaway and I was the lucky winner! I couldn't believe it! I absolutely love these prints. Check out Hollie's Etsy shop here. I moved the display cabinet from the hall upstairs to house my growing shoe collection, I've picked up some great shoes in the charity shops recently, I think they need a blog post of their own. I took a LOT of photos of the new room....

Salad days

Hello!
Bring on the summer, we're salad ready, these photos from a couple weeks ago, since then our salad has gone wild! Our strawberries are coming on nicely, I love the new addition of some garden themed bunting a present from my friend Deborah  a little path that leads to the chicken coup. The sunflowers have been transferred to pots and a birthday presnt of some pansies pots are bringing some much needed colour. Bring on the nice weather, please...

There have been more changes since I took these photos, some needing to be finished, I'm dying to go mad in the garden center but trying very hard not to! Got to save for a holiday!

Hope you're all having a great week xxx

The Give Away Bag

Hello
Growing up I was always used to wearing hand me downs, I have two older sisters and lots of older cousins. I used to love the excitement when an aunt would call to say she had a giveaway bag, usually a bin bag full of clothes to try on. My sisters and I still swap clothes, if we're having a clearout we'll see if anyone wants anyhing before it goes to the charity shop. My sister and I went to see Advanced Style which was brilliant! Before the film I was putting something in her carboot and noticed a suitcase, a friend of hers was having a clearout and sent the clothes to her to see if she wanted anything. The anticapation of what might be inside the suitcase was bubbling, I couldn't wait to have a hoke after the film! I saved two dresses, both from late 1980s I think, one from Marks and Spencer and this one from Debenhams. it's a bit big for me, but I wore it yesterday on a lovely sunny day here and it was lose and floatly and a good cover up for my fair skin.

The pattern on the dress is great but I wasn't in love with the shoulder pads, I whipped them out, cut off the black collar and I was going to take up the hem but then decided I like the length. Not often there's an outfit post on here!
Do you like swapping clothes with family and friends?
Have a great day everyone xx

Empty Nest

Hello!
Our house is a little quieter this week, Bob has flown the nest. It's weird but Bob definitely needed her own space to spread her wings, having all her stuff cramped into a small bedroom was no good. Sad to see Bob go but on the plus side I now have two rooms to play with and space to spread my own wings! Everyday after work I've been cleaning, moving furniture, rearranging stuff, I love changing rooms about. When I was a kid I used to change my bedroom around constantly, I've never grew out of it. I'm 96.5% finished the changes, just a few things to do like iron and hang a curtain, make some new cushion covers, hang a picture, find some space for tshirts to go and then I'll take lots of pictures of the finished rooms to show you!

The place was a mess, I started with Bob's room, cleared everything out and cleaned. Leftover paint from the kitchen makeover so the wardrobe has added a splash of colour to my wardrobe.

I'll save the rest for the finished room post!

Have a great weekend! xxx

Going through the change

Hello!
It's all change round here this week, Bob has flown our nest to pastures new, our kitchen is mid makeover amd now I have my spare room back I'm planning changes in my head. To take a break from it all and gather my thoughts I took the camera out to capture some of beautiful explosions of colour blooming all over the park. It was one of those days we've been having a lot of recently, sunshine and showers. I love the grass full of buttercups, I want to have a picnic in the middle of it!

We shrink from change, yet is there anything that can come to being without it? what does Nature hold dearer, or more proper to herslf? Could you have a hot bath unless the firewood underwent some change? Could you be nourished if the food suffered no change? Is it possible for any thing to be achieved without change? Do you not see, then, that change in yourself is of the same order, and no less necessary to Nature? Marcus Aurelius Mediations

On Bob's Menu

Hello All!
How's your week been? It's been a hectic week at this end, kitchen makeover continues and helping Bob, who is on the move has kept us busy all week. I can't wait to share the latest part of kitchen makeover with you, it's looking good so far!
This is a fun project Bob was working on as a birthday present for a little friend. One of Bob's great skills is that she can make anything out of anything! She carved away, covered in mod rock then painted these cool play foods!

All of a sudden I'm feeling hungry!

Have a great weekend everyone xxx
