Step up mini makeover

Hello!
Hows your week going? 1 more day off work then I'm off work for a week, yeeessss! Can't wait!
I came home from Galway last Friday to find we'd inherited a small pair of step ladders that belonged to the big lad's grandad, his mum was going to chuck them out but thought we could maybe find a home for them, she knows me so well! So like no other normal person, last Friday night with the big lad out for the night I set out to try and find a new home for the steps, instead I should have been putting the feet up after a busy week in work......Naaaaaaa
These ladders have seen many a paint job, they are covered! I could sand them down and paint them or strip them back to the bare wood but I kind of like the look of them and the fact that there's history in the layers of paint. I've always loved the idea of using ladders as shelves and since my last attempt at putting up shelves ended in disaster this seems like a much safer option.
I decided to use the new ladder shelves in the craft room...before....
And after.......
The ladders are held in place by two huge nails battered into the floor boards, holes in the floors now as well as the walls!

The new old ladder shelves perfect for my bits and bobs in the craft room. Thanks to the big lads mum for donating these!
The beer bottle shelves rearranged to suit the new layout, still standing! and more versatile than your regular wall shelves any day!
Linking up with Lakota for Ta-Dah Tuesday!
Bye for now x

All the fun at the other fair!

Hello!
Last Saturday night my sister Kathryn (Bob) the hostess with the mostess hosted the perfect summer funfair birthday party to celebrate her boyfriend Matthew's 27th birthday. She had gone ALL out and had been planning and keeping it all secret for weeks. With the big day looming the weather being rubbish Bob was panicking that the party  might be a washout but the rain stayed away!
Where to begin? She had done so much! The evenings events kicked off with team picking, 2 teams, Team Enterprise (The best team in my opinion!) and Team Green Tea, our first challenge a treasure hunt. Hilarious, frantically searching for the clues, Bob said the clues were literally coming to her at 3 o'clock in the morning. The prize a bottle of bubbly! GO TEAM ENTERPRISE!!
Then we played the outside games...
Sister Christine chucking her balls, Team Enterpize did not excel at this one! Team Green tea won the prize, a pineapple!
Hook a duck
We played another game, 2 teams against each other, 1 person from each team competing, each person has a pendulum swinging in between their legs, Bob used a sock filled with rice and a bit of string put on a tie and then you tie it round your waist. In front of each person there is 5 bottles filled with different amounts of water spaced about 1 metre apart, the aim of the game is to use the pendulum to knock over the bottles, no hands allowed! When you've knocked over all the bottles, pick them all up on your way back and give the pendulum to your next team member. So FUNNY!! Team Enterprize Excelled!! When it started getting dark we headed inside for more....
A photo opportunity!

Guess what!?
We had amazing food, guessed how many marbles were in a jar, had a rave with glow sticks, secret missions, Matthew had to shove a cream pie in his mates face without him suspecting, he managed it but he got his comeback when he was blind folded to smash the pinata and had the contents of the paddling pool tipped over his head! A birthday treat!I won the guess the marbles! The most AMAZING prize! A woman on the front a man on the back, I absolutely love it!
The lovely Tina sporting a rather spiffing tashe, she manages to pull it off in a way only Tina could! Thank you Bob for such a fun night, your parties are the BEST!! Happy Birthday Matthew, looking forward to your birthday next year already!

All the fun at the fair!

Hello!
Home today from a crazy, hectic, busy working week in Galway. The four and a bit hour drive down had my knees turning to jelly.  The weather in Galway was amazing, caught some rays sitting on a swing chair in front of woodies DIY during tea break time. The air con in my car needs a service so today driving home on one of the warmest days of the year, the choice was to have my head blown off or have warm air blowing in my face....arrived home hair like a birds nest, literally stuck to the seat of my car....gross! Anyhoo great to be home to the much missed big lad, Mary and the three girls!
I've got to tell you about the fair! Great day, all delighted! The venue The Red Barn Gallery (definitely worth a visit if you're in Belfast,) the fair That Vintage Vibe a small but relaxed affair run by the lovely Louise Herron. We had a fun day, met some lovely new people, and all my friends called in to say hi! So it was great to see everyone. The big lad even got roped into help! He helped me set up shop, manned the stall, went on the coffee run and even handed out flyers for the fair to get the punters in! Good lad! My sisters Kathryn and Christine helped too! The family business!! I sold bits and bobs, mostly bobs. One girl who had ventured into the fair with her mum (because the big lad had given her a flyer) noticed that I was selling the same bowls her granny had and she used to eat her spaghetti out of them she was little, her mum bought her two! her face lit up!

Doing the fair inspired the opening of the Hey! Home Wrecker Esty shop I'll put some more bits and bobs on over the weekend.
The next fair is on the Saturday 1st of September, if Louise will have us back then we'll be there!
I'm on the look out for new stock already! Ha!
Hope you've all had a lovely week and have lots of nice things planned for the weekend Hope the sun is shining in your world!
I'm off to catch up on all the blogs I've missed this week....Bye for now!

This week I've been mostly thrifting

FROM THE BIG LADS MA'S ATTIC!!
Hello!
Yesterday was I had my stall at That Vintage Vibe fair, we had a fun day, it was Belfast Pride and a sunny day so lots of people about in town and we made enough money to cover the stall and buy the big lad a Dominos pizza, so pretty happy, I'll tell you all about it tomorrow!
Last Sunday we were invited up to the big lads mums house, with a free licence to root around in her attic and take whatever we wanted! Red flag to a bull comes to mind! I LOVE HOKING IN PEOPLES LOFTS!!! The big lad found all his old Lego, and a couple of other treasures, here's what we brought home....
A new bud for wee Ted!
The big lad's Liverpool shirt from 1989, fits me perfectly! We're going to see them play in a couple weeks, I'll wear this to the match, the shorts are a bit much, I've worn them out on a run though and they're pretty cool!

I had Friday off and headed down to my parents house to borrow my da's pasting table, I couldn't resist calling into some of my favourite thrift shops on the way and I went a little crazy and panic bought more stuff! For the stall so that makes it ok, ok?
And my from my sister, a vintage dress I've loved for years, she's finally given it to me! All I need now is another sunny day, too bad it's raining again today!!

You thought I was finished? I also thrifted some very pretty bed linen, it's single bed size, with two pillow cases, so I'm using the duvet cover for crafts and keeping the pillow cases to use. I love the vintage floral pattern and the pretty colours.

And that's it for this week, I'm all thrifted out!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone! xx

Friday Flowers and a Happy Belated Birthday Blog!

Hello! I've been in Scotland all week with work and I've missed my blog's 1st birthday! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY BLOG!!!
It all began on a typical Sunday, the 31st of July, one year ago... I'd been reading blogs for a while and thought I'd like to write one and share all the things I love about life and so Hey! Home Wrecker was born. I have to say that in the last year I have been  more inspired and more creative than ever, I think having my blog and reading other peoples gives me great motivation! Having my blog has also help me relax, it's my chill out time, sitting down to write or read and catch up with all the blogs I follow. Which brings me to my blog buddies, all the lovely people who read, follow and leave comments, you make my day and I want to Thankyou for your kind words and making me laugh. So here's to the next year of blogging! HIP HIP HOORAY!!
My First blog was about our rainbow stairs
We've had the stairs like that for 3 years so it was time for a makeover!
Stairs stripped.... I'd bought a flowery rug from Urban Outfitters a while ago and thought it would make a great runner for a staircase revamp, Friday flowers this week comes in rug form, rugs ordered, paint chosen, ready to go.

A couple of layers of purple later, ready for the fun part...stapling on the rugs....
My real life welcoming cat! Mary who suffers from a dickie tummy decides to barf right on top of the new stairs, typical!! Please aim for the wooden part in future Mary!!

I'm heading over to Lakota at Faith Hope And Charity Shopping for Ta-Dah Tuesday, pop over to see all the finished projects from this week!

I'm off to get myself organised for the vintage fair tomorrow, still need to organise a float, a table cloth and most importantly a table!
Have a FABULOUS Friday everyone! xxxx
